I don't know why you say Goodbye I say HeIllo!

I learned from RD095 and EN001 was alot. I never saw my self going to community college becuase of the reputuation i heard about it. College is college doesn't matter wheather it has the name N.Y.U or Howard U or any other university. I didn't expect to make friends but i made a few. First impressions were ok espcially since the first person I met and talked to was Marivin. "Hello my name is Marivin and I think we're going to be partners, what's your name?" I learned to be a better writer and reader which i found ironic giving that fact that i read and write all the time. The stuff i learned in both these classes would have been really really helpful if i had learned it in high school. Everything i've done here has been fun except for Ms. Simon's pop quizes but she taught me how to be prepared which i will use for next semester so thanks for boost! I think i'm full of Dominican pride now since our three Latinas have made me part of their Latino Heritage, i guess the next time someone says Dominican Republic I can stand out and shout like Melissa "Oh yeah! That's my country, represent!"
Everyone has been nice and respectful especially Shirley who have given me a confidence boost in what I wanna do with my life, and if i ever do write a book, i'll put your name on it for a dedication.I learened i was kind of ignorant of places like Baltimore and DC and i have to tahnk Debbie for that. I learned nearly everything i eat is poison and an unclean way. I can never look at chicken or beef again without thinking how it's made. My chickfila paste nuggets still taste good though! lol! Ms. Simon and Mr. Wahl are like a true mother and father of the classroom. Ms. Simon the stern mother keeping us together while Mr. Wahl the sensitive one gives us a break once in a while and gets frowned upon slightly. If they were married, he be sleeping on the couch all the time!
I'm glad my blogs have inspired people, made others laugh, and even horrifed my teacher into almost never eating Chipotle again which is my favorite Dr. Wahl moment besides the fact that he's always trying to rap sometimes. I think he might one day be the next Eminem of Iowa! Just kidding, but I'm glad he left Iowa to teach us and it really means alot to me. Every personailty i will never forget, from Philip's Victoria secret sarcasm (I still think he will be the only guy i've ever met that works there and i give him props for that),cheerleader Brittany,Gucci Man Shawn, and very very weird John! Our personailities are what make us sepcial and if i've forgotten anyboday i'm sorry and your all awesome. So until we meet again which i know will be around see, see everyone later.

Chew on this & King Corn

From reading and watching about these topics for the past few weeks i've learned that the government really isn't telling us certain things about where we get our food. It isn't until we see the close picture we realize the harm it does like the meat industry especially. how so may chemicals and pesticides are being put into our food while we're unaware and so many animals are suffering for it. I'm not vegan or vegetarian but i believe our food should be well taken care of, this reminds me of the book The Jungle, so many horrible death killing events were happening but no one cared to realize it until it was proven or read in the book. I don't want to have to see the big picture the hard the hard way if i know it'll kill me, or even worse guilt me badly since now i buy cage free eggs because of a recent video i saw about what happens to baby chicks in an egg factory in Iowa. After they we're questioned about it, they made it seem like it was no big deal! If your killing 200 million newborn chicks a year, IT IS A BIG DEAL!!!!!!! They even had the nerve to post on their website "We are committed to the humane and respectful treatment of each and every bird in our care" I know animals are put on earth for human use and people say "oh their just animals, they have no feeling, they're put on earth for our food". That may be slightly true but animals do have feelings! But do we have to kill and treat them so badly? It's inhumane and it should be put to a stop. I know we as consumers may have to sacrafice a little bit more money like the cage free eggs i buy now are $2 more then the original ones my parents still buy because they don't want to pay the extra money.

To change this we should all sign a petition and or boycott these industries until they take care of these animals right, it's wrong and the impact will change not only the way we think but what we. It kind of reminds me of this song by Lily Allen "When you look with your eyes, everything seem nice, but it if you look twice you can can see it's all lies". We have to change the way the factories act, it's wrong and if we don't sooner or later we're just encouraging it and it it'll get even worse. We also have to fight for the mistreatment of the workers too , because they're being treated wrong also. Everyone at one point dislikes their job, but if your treated badly wouldn't you want someone to fight for you? We have to fight for others who can't fight for themselves, because it isn't fair.

LDN- Lily Allen

LDN lyrics

[Verse 1]
Riding through the city on my bike all day, cause the filth took away my license. It doesn't get me down and I feel ok, cause the sights that I'm seeing are priceless. Everything seems to look as it should, but I wonder what goes on behind doors? A fella looking dapper, but he's sitting with a slapper, then I see it's a pimp and his crack whore. You might laugh you might frown. Walkin' round London town.

[Chorus]
Sun is in the sky. Oh why oh why? Would I wanna be anywhere else? Sun is in the sky. Oh why oh why ? Would I wanna be anywhere else? When you look with your eyes, everything seems nice, but if you look twice, you can see it's all lies.
[Verse 2]
There was a little old lady who was walking down the road. she was struggling with bags from Tesco. There were people from the city having lunch in the park. I believe that it's called Al Fresco. Then a kid came along to offer a hand, but before she had time to accept it; Hits her over the head, doesn't care if she's dead, cause he's got all her jewelery and wallet. You might laugh you might frown. Walking round London town.

[Chorus]
Sun is in the sky. Oh why oh why? Would I wanna be anywhere else? Sun is in the sky. Oh why oh why? Would I wanna be anywhere else? When you look with your eyes, everything seems nice, but if you look twice, you can see it's all lies. Life, yeah that's city life. Yeah that's city life. yeah that's city life. Life, yeah that's city life. Yeah that's city life. Yeah that's city life.

[Chorus x2]
Sun is in the sky. Oh why oh why? Would I wanna be anywhere else? Sun is in the sky. Oh why oh why? Would I wanna be anywhere else?

[x2] When you look with your eyes, everything seems nice, but if you look twice, you can see it's all lies.

Iris- Goo Goo Dolls

Iris Lyrics

Verse 1

And I'd give up forever to touch you, cause I know that you feel me somehow. You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be and, I don't want to go home right now.

Verse 2

And all I can taste is this moment, and all I can breathe is your life. Cause sooner or later it's over, I just don't want to miss you tonight.

Chorus

And I don't want the world to see me, cause I don't think that they'd understand. When everything's made to be broken, I just want you to know who I am.

Verse 3

And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming, or the moment of truth in your lies. When everything seems like the movies, yeah you bleed just to know your alive.

Chorus

And I don't want the world to see me, cause I don't think that they'd understand. When everything's made to be broken, I just want you to know who I am.

Chorus

I don't want the world to see me, cause I don't think that they'd understand. When everything's made to be broken, I just want you to know who I am.

I just want you to know who I am...........
I just want you to know who I am............
I just want you to know who I am............
I just want you to know who I am............

Chipotle

For the past 3 days i've realized i've literally only eaten chipotle and I don't know why. I'm not the type of person who is fast food everyday even though it's a temptation, which is y i try to avoid it but i'm probably going to buy a burger later. I've realized I love Chipotle and i've eaten it alot in the past month, i think I've actually spent $50 on chipotle last month which is ridiculous. I was watching Southpark yesterday and there was an episode about Billy Mays(the guy who does the oxy clean commercials) and they were talking about chipotle and it was hilarious with a brand called Chipotlaway, I think i got the point of it though! But I wished it was reversed with instead a product that could keep you from buying it too often but hey if it's tastes good. It's worth my money like when i see a neat outfit but instead i can't use it again as the fact that i've already eaten it. But in general food brings us together and without it we would all basically die. Food makes us happy, sad, guilty, challenged, or just plain jumpy like when when i was a little kid and my favorite night was spaghetti night when my mom would make it special. We may not notice but food is a pretty powerful thing, we should give it a little more credit for that.

Double Duece- Major's point of view Ch. 4

"Major what we gon do today?" my dog Donche asked while i was playing the new sonic game on the sega we stole from that old ass lady's house yesterday night. I ignored his question trying to get Sonic to get the ring in the circle, i grabed my gin and juice and drank. "Major!" He laughed
"Shut the hell up! shit always annoying the shit out of somebody." i yelled and threw the controller out the tv. "Sorry Major just chill." This Nigga knew to never get on my bad side. "Ay yo! You know what i heard? There some cops going round the neighborhood" My boy Satan said.
"What?" i glanced at him quick. 5-0 knew never to mess with me after we done scared them off.
"Yeah, some nigga and some cracker cop". he laughed. "Let's go!" I told my crew. "Where we going?" one of my crew boys said. "To just chill, smoke some weed." I said. I wanted to see those cops for myself, I needed to know who had the nerve to mess with me after what happened to that hoe and her kid. We went out side and walked a few blocks. "Dame! Look at that ride!" Satan pointed to some nice ride. Probably belong to one of them rich white folks. My boy John sat on the trunk. "How you like me now yo!" He laughed and we joined in. Just then some some black dude come up out of no where, punches John and throws him to the ground and points a gun at us. Like i was scared to die. He got John's name too.

"The names Hawk" he says and jerks his head at the Irish cop. "His names Spenser. You care to promulgate the first rule?" The Irish cop says "First rule, don't sit on Hawk's car."
"Any questions?" He asked us. "Yeah!" I called out.
"What's your name?" he asked.
"Major."
"What's your question Major."
"You a white man's nigga?"
"I suppose you could say i'm nobody's nigga" he said.
He seem like one of those rich niggas that read the books, he think he better then me cause he go to some rich white school. Big house probably too in his little Gucci or Prada crap clothes he wearing. Now he got a rich white man running him like a slave, he so blind.
"How come you brought him with you?" i asked.
"Company, you run this outfit?" he asked. He not as dumb as he looks.
"We all together here, man. You got some problem with that?" I was waiting for him to challenge me. The Hawk dude smiled.
"Not yet."

I grinned back at him. Challenge accepted bitch.
"Not sure John Porter believe that entirely." I said.
"He's not dead." Hawk said.
I nodded. "Okay, he be bruising your ride, now he ain't. What you want here?"
"We the new Department of Public Safety." Hawk said.
"Which means what?"
"Which means that starting right now, you obey the 11th commandment or we bust your ass." he said.
"You Iron?" i asked, like i read a dame bible. these peps around here must be desperate to get these dudes right here.
"We the iron here." he said.
"What's the 11th commandment?"
"Leave everybody else the fuck alone." he said.
"You and the Irish?"
"Uh huh." he nodded.
"Two guys?"
"Uh huh."

I laughed and low fived my dog Nate, these cops in for some trouble and they don messed with the wrong niggas.
"Good luck to you, motherfuckers" and signaled my crew out. We laughed like crazy. "Let's go smoke a blunt, this is gonna be interesting."
"Look like ya'll were playing a game of cards with that talk." Satan said.
"We'll call it a draw." I smiled.

Double Duece...

Double Deuce is an interesting story so far and i think the story is real because because there a few areas in Michigan, Florida, Alabama, e.t.c that are just like what is happening in the book. For a group of gang members to ride up and drive bye on a 15 year old girl and her newborn baby is straight up G. Not in a good way, but in a scary way because they are places like that all the time on TV on the new and even the people in the neighborhood are scared. It kind of reminds me of a book version of Boyz in the Hood or even worse Menace to Society which is the ghettoest movie I've ever seen besides New Jack City. All the people in the stories and the movies want to end the violence but are too sacred to act. That's one of the reasons why i will never live in the ghetto, i might as well take my a#% to the suburbs or any safer area where I know somebody. I like the characters though, they all seem like real people everyday who act instead of "fake characters" that you read in the books or movies who are too good to be true. I just hope the book gets better, at first i didn't like it but it got interesting after chapter 3, so thanks Prof. Simon! A real good book so far.

What I read in my SpareTime?

I read everything from magazines to novels, matter of fact reading is actually one of my favorite hobbies. I fell I'm away from the world in my own private mind when i read. I like mostly paranormal books about ghosts, witches, or whatever is cool but lately I'm beginning to hate reading books. It seems that every time i discover a good book, it gets popular and then made into a movie and then the whole world knows about it and posers pretend they like the book because it's being made into a movie. A good example is Twilight. I read it in 05' when it first came out at the library, and i liked it so much i told my best friend about it and even borrowed him the book and he never read it, it wasn't until 3 years later when it was being made into a movie he actually cared about the book and started buying the crappy movie merchandise like crazy and non stop pestering me to borrow him the book to read. But getting back to topic reading is something that makes you feel good or bad, sad, thankful, or just blessed because of the words. I know everyone has at least once in their lives has read a book that made them cry or it just changed their lives and made them a better person.

I love authors, i love the other that teach good things in their books and don't spread the word of hate. My favorite authors are Alice Walker, Kevin Brooks, Alex Sanchez,Anne Rice,Stephanie Meyer just to name a few, because their way of writing sends a message and i admire books like that. My three absolute favorite books would manly be from Kevin Brooks because i can relate to the writing more and the views he puts in his characters my age, so i can real ate instantly. Best book he's ever written Candy. Best books from Alex Sanchez are the Rainbow Boys series, plus he's a gay writer which is interesting because I'd never read work written by a gay author before(I've read all his books). Best book from Alice walker is obviously The Color Purple(I've read it 7 times).I don't discriminate with books, trust me. It took me a long time before i read hood books by authors like Zane. "The Coldest Winter Ever" by Sistah Souljah is one of the best books I've read so far.

I believe books should sometimes never be made into movies because when it does it's not special anymore and they always ruin stuff or leave out the best parts, like for example... Why is Debbie in the Cirque Du Freak movie white instead of black? And why is he 16 in the movie when in the book he's 12 and later in the end looks 16? Books get ruined when it becomes a movie but i still love them, it's sort of like candy in a way. u have to enjoy the packet for your self until someone else sees it and it gets shared with the rest. it sucks sometimes, but hey it's life. Book quotes will always get me. Best quote i ever read in a book is the quotes....

"I think it pisses off God when you walk by the Color Purple in a field and don't even notice it"~Shug Avery

Folk Tradition

To honest coming from an Africian culture through my parents, we don't have many traditions that we do except a few. In our culture when you get a job you have to donate your first check to charity as good, so i guess goodbye $235.00 i made at age 16 at my first job. But it paid off later cuz there were aq few situations where i could have been let go but i wasn't. I feel we make trations for our own reason. like Christmas is a world wide tradition but every celebrates it in their own way which makes it special. My family every christmas eve bake cookies and watch a christmas movie together as a family but i feel kind of bad becuase i've broken it 3 times in a row now becuase i never like the movies they pick, but is the tradition not special? Traditions are created for specific reasons, not becuase it's a "tradition"

How "REAL!?" Is Reality TV?

Basically to prove a point in this blog, Reality television is nothing but flesh eating ways to get people's attention to watch their how. Most Reality television in my opinion is just ignorance like what every popular example is "Flava of Love". Excuse my french but the show is just about a reject rapper that looks like a monkey on crack trying to find true love which in my opinion is bull! Reason why is because the show just like other shows like "Charm school" get the stereotypical African American woman who wears long nails, ugly weave, blonde hair, like pigs feet and basically look like prostitutes with probably two baby daddy's. Then there's the "The Surreal life" where i'm supposed to watch a bunch of broke celebrity rejects and one hit wonders try to get famous again after my genertion don't even know who they are, they're basically a bunch of losers. Not to sound harsh but that's all it is. Then you have the "Rock of Love" where fifteen sluts along with maybe two black chicks(I'm sorry if it may sound racist or something, i just hate it when i see black people on a white reality show)want an 80's rock star, go through all these fights and bar drinking moments to find out later at the reunion "oh sorry babe, i thought i wanted you but i didn't" I'm not trying to say that reality shows are all fake but some reality shows are actually interesting and some have lost their edge. I remember i actually had a talk with my mom about how i couldn't stand the real world and my actually said that the Real World was her favorite show when i was still in diapers because at the time the show was real about actual people and she even told me about a gay Aids person in the house and it's affect on the other house members. she said the person also died as soon as the last episode aired. She actually quoted, "Back then the Real world was real but i don't know what wrong with your generation now cause now when i see it on tv it's depressing because it's all about partying and getting drunk, and hooking up." And then you have the show Bad Girls and Tila Tequila which just finds something new to attract us to find out that they're still all fake in their own way but season 2 of both shows were good!

Maybe reality television just stopped getting real at some point and just got "Fake Real" meaning it's real people but they're all fake just trying to show off for tv. I like shows like "Top Model" but i think it's losing it's edge even though i've been watching the show since i was 12, i've seen every season. I wanna study theatre soon and i want to be in the fashion industry if i get the chance and from the show, I've learned that the modeling industry is no joke, people are always gonna try to sabotage you at some point and that's that i've learned watching it. "Project Runway" is also teaching me that(I love Heidi Klume!).I just wish that it could be real like "Keisha Cole the way it is" or "Tiny and Toya". Right now i'm actually watching Real Housewives of Orange County and it's interesting, never seen it before but all i know is that i really don't like Kim. She seems like a Gold digger and who the heck is Big Poppa? Nene is a B@#$! Sheree is full of herself, Oh i like Kandi! well i've always liked her since the group Xscape. The show has got me hooked becuase it drew my attention becuase it was about african american women with huge wealth in their resected towns just like the other house wives, which is rare. The show looks real right now but later on i have to observe if it's fake real or just real drama, plus the fights are good.

But anyways getting off topic Reality tv is just something to get our attention with something we relate too. I watch "Tiny and Toya" cause i do have some realtive issues, not as bad as theirs but i can relate, Tyra is teching me what to do and avoid in the fashion industry and i'm also learning i'm not going to spoil my kids like "My super sweet 16". Reality shows teach me things and just make me laugh, it's ironic in a way. Well... thanks for reading!.....

Here's a legendary Top Model moment...

What's My Music Choice?

My music choice is anything, I don't seperate myself to listen to only one genre, like the fact that because I'm African American I have to listen to Rap & R&B which i personally think is bull. I listen to everything but i guess if you can say my sort of favorite is alternative because i feel i can relate to most of the lyrics more but i also have the same affect with it R&B music. I mostly listen to these because 9/10 times i don't have to hear about banging a girl in the club or getting some head or any other stupid dances like chicken noodle soup or Halle Berry!(no offense to anyone that likes the Halle Berry dance but i've never seen that woman do that dance or movement in my life!) like rap does. Don't get me wrong i still listen to it but most of the time that's all it really ever is about, sex and drugs mostly. I like alternative because it's a different sound to me, it makes you happy or sad or just well in my opinion at ease with the world. I also like to listen to other artist like Jeffree Star because he's unique. I love unique music, i listen to it everywhere especially in room. My ipod is my child and without it I have no music to escape from life. Alternative is just music that's deep in my opinion and if i were to sing music that would be the genre i choose. i don't ever seperate music by race, music is music and we should all appreciate it because of that. My favorite band is actually Paramore becuase their music calms me down when i'm stressed and i love them for that! Even though I listen to that mostly i still love 90's music since i'm a 90's baby like Backstreet Boys, Spice Girls,Mary J. Blige. I have no certain i just like, i'm diverse with my music and i think other should be like right now i'm listening to their song "Emergency" which is about a boy that left his girlfriend, it's not hard to relate to at all being the fact i recently had an difficult situation like that with a friend. i guess this is all my head can pop out for now so enjoy my blog..

Man in the Mirror (Human Nature)

Ok, where to start? I'm a Michael Jackson fan, I've been one since my dad used to to make me dance while i was 2 years old to thriller and watching his concert specials on HBO. It was one of my best childhood memories especially my dad promising me he would take me to a concert when i got older, but well....? He died when I was 5 so i guess that never happened but today I did watch TV. I flipped through and saw "Man in the Mirror"(it's the only MJ movie I've never seen) so i watched it and i understood and while watching I research everything about him especially his molestation charges and i understood some more especially from the movie.

I learned from Tv, the media lies so that they can make themselves look good and their victim look bad. We never get to know the victims side of the story but instead rumours that destroy marriages and families. I'd probably love Brittany Spears if she hadn't shaved her head and ram a car with an umbrella(which will still be one of my craziest teenage memories), but when i saw her as a person talking, I knew she was the victim, not the enemy. Lies hurt people and destroy, the Media is truly the evil one in the making. But we encourage it every time we buy a tabloid magazine or look up their scandals, or watch it on shows like ET or The Wendy Williams show (still don't know who that woman is and why and how she got her own show). We never care about what good a public figure or celebrity does, all we care mostly is their faults and then we judge, we're basically ignorant.

No matter what people say Michael Jackson was a gift to the world, he wasn't a molester, he wasn't dishonest, he wasn't even "Wacko Jacko" he was just a person who wanted to make a change for the better in the world. He gave and gave and gave and gave but still it wasn't enough. It just shows how selfish, cruel, and evil people can be in the world. I also learned from the movie even though the term is obvious but "Money is the root of all evil" I mean why is money around? It just destroys lives and makes things complicated, I mean sometimes I wish money were things like rocks and shells, do what the cavemen did (not trying to say we're all cavemen). Ok I'm getting off topic but Michael loved children and he was so obsessed with them because he never knew what it felt like to be a kid, it was taken away from a B@#$d of a father. Yeah I own nearly everything the man recorded but it all has a meaning into it. He was an icon, my role model, he helped so much people and it just shows that some people look to the brighter sides of things even though they're attacked everyday kinda like Jesus (not that I'm comparing him to my lord and savior).

They say you don't know what you got until it's gone and I feel I'm learning that stuff everyday, so when i looked at YouTube pages and people say stuff like "MJ was a pedophile" or "MJ deserves to die", it breaks my heart just how bad some people can be ignorant and judgemental. I mean we buried the GREATEST ENTERTAINER IN THE WORLD! on Thursday and his music will be around forever. I feel we all have a little MJ in us, when we help others (heal the word), find that special someone (you are not alone), want that annoying person out of your face (scream/leave me alone), or just wanna have fun on Halloween (thriller), the movie reminded he was special and all these thoughts came flooding back, he was special and will always be remembered.

If you enter this world knowing you are loved and you leave this world knowing the same, then everything that happens in between can be dealt with.”~ Michael Jackson <3

Chicks in a Blender? GTFO!

Ok so I was on Youtube the other day when I saw one of supscriptions pop up. One was from internet celebrity Matthew Lush also known as the GayGod. Ok I'm not gay or anything but his videos are really cool and one he did was called "Chicks in a blender!?!? GTFO!" where he was talking about a youtube video of a chicken farm factory in Iowa that seperates and kills their newborn male chicks by throwing them into a blender becuase they're not profitable, and therfore can't lay eggs to be sold for their bussiness. They basically say "male chick in the blender", "Female aside to lay eggs", and i looked at the link Matthew Lush put under his video for people to see and I was disgusted! It actually made me want to cry, I mean after all I'm not vegetarian or vegan like Matthew Lush is but this was straight up animal cruelty! The factory was estimated to have killed 200 million male chicks a year becuse the factory couldn't use them. IF YOU COULDN'T USE THEM THEN WHY NOT SELL THEM TO A FARMER , INSTEAD OF KILL THEM!!!!????? For God sakes they just cracked out of their shell to be thrown into a blender? And when the factory was questioned on this, they didn't deny it at all and made it seem like it wasn't aa big deal. Hmm if a newborn male baby was thrown into a blender becuase he couldn't lay eggs, it's obviously a big deal people! I even showed the video to my mom and grandmother and they begged me to stop the video after 5 mins and the video is a good 15 mins. I mean how could even the workers live with themselves knowing they kill poor innocent baby animals for a living? I still eat eggs every now and then but now when I see one all I'm thinking is 200 million chicks died just to produce this one egg on my toast or in my cake recipe. If no one believes this check youtube for the title video which is the same as my post title and when you go to a grocery store, please buy eggs that are labeled "CAGE FREE" on the box and you'll feel less guilty. I mean I understand we can eat animals and stuff but atleast we should do it the right way instead of a sick cruel way. Anyways that's just my thought for this day. Poor chicks......Thanks for reading!
